Hello TAUG!

I've recently setup an Asterisk server at home to reduce the number of unwanted calls we receive. It's been very successful. I've setup inbound routes for practically everyone we know to ring group 1 (two ATA adapters, and a soft phone on my laptop) if their CID is known, otherwise an auto attendant message comes on and tells the caller to press "1" which dumps to voice mail. Those "in the know" can press "0" to ring the group if their caller ID isn't valid and they get the auto attendant.

I've hooked up our POTS line for incoming calls, and I'm using Unlimitel for outgoing VoIP service.

I'm having an issue with outgoing caller ID, but I'm not sure if I'm configuring it wrong or if it's an Unlimitel issue.

If I set the caller ID on the IAX2 trunk to read "Name" <##########>, should this appear as the caller ID on the receiving end? I've tried, and it always comes back as the DID number. Maybe I'm entering the wrong format?

I was hoping that I could set the outgoing caller ID to the POTS number.

Cheers,
Sean.
