Thanks for the advice. I have decided for now to keep Bell. I am looking to
buy a Linksys SPA-3102 to connect my PSTN to my home phones.

A quick scenario question:

Once it has been all hooked up - I want an incoming call to not only ring
the home phone but also ring my cell. Is this possible?
What else do I need? Do I need to purchase a an outgoing SIP Line?

Mike

Hi There.

If you are looking at canceling your Bell phone line, you might want to
consider going with a phone provider that will still be able to offer you
911 service. Although I currently do not use them, I have been looking into
Unlimitel since they offer 911 service and you can port your phone number
over to them.

A number of people on the list here seem to use Unlimitel and from what I
have heard it is good.

Good luck.

Chris

PS. Enjoy building your system this weekend. I set up mine a few weeks ago
with a computer I bought for $30 used from a computer store. It doesn't
take much to get up and running!

Subject: [on-asterisk] newbie questions

I sent to the Ottawa Asterisk User Group but the site and mailing list seems
to be down.
I would like to build a TRIXBOX this weekend and eventually cancel phone
service with Bell.
My experience as I haven't got to a meeting yet is ready the book "Trixbox
Made Easy".
I am currently a Teksavvy DSL user - I guess I would have to switch to dry
DSL (or would I be better off with cable internet?)
I am looking for a recommendation for a service provider - perhaps with the
option of keeping my old number.
Most of my calling is local - so would prefer a unlimited local bundled
price.
Features not that important - what I need I hope to make Asterisk do for me.
I am currently in the market for an ATA adapter - seems like the PAP2T-NA is
the one to get - correct?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
