Now I am surprised. Whi Trixbox 8 and freePBX 8 when Trixbox is using FreePBX
for 100% of Asterisk configurations.

There are at least five popular Open Source Web management applications that
use Asterisk.
I have given my rating IMHO (out of 10). All of these are easy to install and
have more features
"than you can shake a stick at"

Elastix (9)
Trixbox (8)
CentPBX (6)
AsteriskNow (5)
FreePBX (7)

Have fun

I've been singled out! You can talk about other telephony stuff too.
According to our website, you just need to be enthusiastic ;-)

Since you already have an asterisk solution, I wouldn't suggest switching
or mixing -- and in the scenario you've described, it's a good solution.

If you're planning on handling 100's - 10,000's of simultaneous calls,
then I would start looking at FreeSwitch, OpenSER, and others.

Hi all,

Forgive me if this is blasphemous for this list... asterisk-only?

I"m sure some of you have tried/tested alternatives to asterisk, such
 as callweaver, freeswitch, whatever...

would you care to share your experiences, comparisons, contrasts
 between the various alternatives?

Personally, I am looking for the best solution for a home office
incorporating residential (wife-centric) service, with the
possibility of extending the service to offer residential service to
others in the community. So far I have only experience with asterisk,
currently running version 1.4.11 on an and64 desktop with a Linksys
 wrt54l (openwrt), a Linksys SPA-3102 and two Aastra's, a 480ict and a
 9133i.

If this is too off-topic for this list, please let me know, Simon.
And, if so, others may choose to reply off-list.

 Thanks in advance,
