Unless I'm mistaken, the askozia approach solves a problem where your
sharing your network with other bandwidth hogging applications, and QOS
settings just don't cut it for you.

The same would probably be true if you're more comfortable as a
FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD user rather than as a Linux user.
