Hi,

That's true. What you would need is a tftp server on the data side that would provide just the aastra.cfg with the proper vlan configuration and devide a way to have the phone reboot after it has fetched this new configuration. This could be done by having a different firmware version on the data vlan tftp server that on the voice tftp server vlan.

So when you power up a new/unconfigured phone it will:

    1. Get the aastra.cfg from the data vlan tftp
    2. Get the (older) firmware from the data vlan tftp
    3. Reboot at this point it should have the voice vlan config
    4. Get the aastra.cfg and mac.cfg from the voice vlan tftp
    5. Get the (new) firmware from the voice vlan tftp
    6. Reboot and should now be functional

I have not tried that (don't have a managed switch lying around...) but I believe it could work...

I've found that if the phone (55i in this case) does pickup a different vlan from the aastra.cfg file, then it will automatically reboot itself. Not sure if this is the same on the 480i though - you would have to give it a try.

Also, I haven't come across the issue with a PoE switch restarting and the configs being lost, especially if the 9133i is still working, but I tend to stay away from Linksys switches... This may be a phone issue.

I suggest resetting the 480i back to factory defaults and trying again - I've had some funky experiences with the Aastra's and resetting to defaults (some times multiple times) can help.
