Hey Taug'ers

Has anyone had success with the Cisco SPA112 device, or is it just me?

As far as I'm concerned - the Cisco SPA112 is a complete lemon, stay far far away!

Here is why I have come to that conclusion;

-At the point of "unboxing" the device - I checked the firmware against Cisco's website. It was already at "current" at version 1.1.0 (011).

-I configured it with my account and credentials and deployed it at a remote location.

-At the remote location, I configured it with a static IP address, and it could reach the internet (via NAT - and a STUN) - and it worked..... so I left the site.

-Within a day or two - I could not contact the web GUI (across a VPN to the site), get or make calls, I could only "ping" the device. - https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2138537?tstart=30

-My google-fu showed that I was not the only one with this issue.

-I called Cisco, they wouldn't talk to me until I re-flashed the unit with the current firmware (which is the same as the unit is running) - seems redundant to me...

-Cisco would not give me a "beta" firmware. It sounded like a lot of paperwork or something... They wanted "debug logs", but couldn't tell me how to get logs (since there is at least three or four sections related to syslog in their GUI related to syslogging.

- I attempted a reflash, and the unit "hung" during the flash (I suspect a memory leak...), rebooted it and was able to re-flash

-Cisco left the case open for 10 days - waiting for a crash, then closed the case....

-Since the re-flash - has not been randomly hanging, however it seems to have an issue with callid and registration now. The phone connected to the ATA will ring, but there will be no dialtone... (I suspect that's a notification to tell you that you have lost registration.... ) - https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2135323?tstart=0

-Cisco support has publicly stated several times that the firmware release is imminent.... Sadly these dates keep slipping...

I'm at my wits end with this device. The last thing I want to do is implement a wonky Chinese ATA, but honestly - this thing is is worse than most of those I have dealt with. Can anyone point me to firmware that actually works, any tips, or lend me a rubber chicken to wave over this device before I put it out of its misery !?

/Mark
