Hi folks, I'd like to understand what we are after...
Initially, I was just looking for back-end tools to make my life as a reseller/support person easier. But I can see, from this thread and others, that there is also a desire for end-user tools. It sounds like some work has begun along those lines with Messenger-VM... In the interest of keeping AstLinux small, are we considering keeping the back-end tools off of AstLinux? ...and the end-user tools _on_ the AstLinux box? A single tool? I have been selling systems from MKC Networks that has a java-based web configuration and management front-end. It _is_ pretty cool. It has two login levels, a 'Manager' level and a 'Tech' level. Now I'm _not_ suggesting that Java is the way to go...though it has it's advantages. I'm short on programming skills, but I'd be more than willing to host the project permanently on our web server. I could configure any tools desired by developers. I could also host/manage DNS, mail, or anything else desired. I'm also short on money, but who isn't? ;-) But I could contribute _something_, for sure.
