The only thing that I could suggest is to get it back to v1 and let apple k ow it won't successfully upgrade to see what they might do.
One theory that does you little good is that one of the firmware patches got partially through and now is gumming everything else up. If so it is very likely the remote patch. I know nothing about the remote firmware patches you found but if you can return it to the original base you could then try the V1 recovery and upgrade. Sorry I can't be of much more help.
