I don't think ad blockers are who they're targeting, I think it's the content creators that are using storage space on their platform. They could just as easily make more Youtube Premium-exclusive content so that third party players can't get to it, this may or may not include foo Youtube. A less than stellar outcome for sure, but it sure beats an account removal.
@Zoren: This would be slightly less ideal for the staff, but to avoid desensitization they could have paid time off periods and a rolling staff so we can get fresh takes on all the videos. You'd have to have a huge yet selective list of applicants for this, and as we said this view and capitalism do not get along, especially this is the antithesis of cutting corners. Of course they could just make a separate platform and use rented space for it, but there definitely is not enough interest in that for something like that to happen. Youtube is a household word, other brands would be far from that.
