I've done several A/B tests for this, both with my speakers (SB3 -> Odyssey Cyclops extreme -> B&W CM4's) and with a good set of phones (SB -> Grado phones). Source material was Patricia Barber, Verse, and Gene Harris, Tribute to Count Basie (both exceptionally well recorded). There is no difference. Perhaps my ears aren't good enough, or my system isn't transparent enough. Or perhaps there are some defective SBs out there that somehow cause a subtle change in the sound quality during decoding. But if I were slimdevices, absent some real evidence that this effect is real, I wouldn't take it very seriously. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=22936 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
