It can't be audiophile without balanced output.
I can't for the life of me understand why high end stuff still uses
unbalanced RCA jacks
These are somewhat contradictory statements,
granted. More than a little contradictory.
I believe that balanced is needed, and some amp vendors sell only
balanced. But clearly a lot of vendors still use RCA.
I don't understand it, balanced is nearly always better and costs only a
few bucks more. Of course, balanced negates the "need" for mega dollar
interconnects. Technially, balanced is only needed if the interconnects
are "long".
me... if they include them then that's fine. But like I said, they
can't include too many of the Transporter's features or they'd stop
selling Transporters. If the Transporter ends up being perceived as
"higher end" then they'll have hit their mark exactly with a new
product that doesn't take away the higher end customer.
This thread is pure speculation, and mostly silly. It is not gonna
happen anytime soon for reasons given way up thread.
Agreed that the handles are kinda silly.
Don't know if there are 19" rack ears, which are needed for some
audiophile setups. And rackmounting is just cool, even if it is silly.
According to the datasheet, they're available.
Datasheets? What datasheets. Only engineers read datasheets.
After wandering arround, I did find the datasheet, altho it looks a lot
more like a product feature list than a datasheet to me.
Actually, the options page
https://secure.slimdevices.com/order/upgrades.cgi
still has the bonus squeezebox offer if you buy a transporter.
I've never in my life seen an audiophile's system setup that was
rackmounted. I'm sure some must exist, particularly among guys with a
pro audio background, but vibration damping of rackmounted components
must be near impossible.
Right, and power isolation is a challenge as well. But tons of
audiophile parts are 17" which is the size you want to rack mount
things, assuming you can get ears.
Plus, rack mounting means you can't use voodoo stones or air pillows to
reduce sonic impact of vibrations.
