Consumers on the other hand rarely do.
But at least they value measurements and are being pragmatic about things that are *hard* to measure. They don't resort to false theories and invent terminology to describe artifacts. The equipment is designed using measurements as well as viewing tests, it's never built solely using viewing tests. That's the crux of the discussion. So why is it that some people seem to > think that an audio product can be completely defined in terms of > bandwidth, SNR and THD? But cars are defined by a very precise set of measurements during development. Seat sizes, leg room, control layout are all defined by careful haptic and ergonomic design. Car manufacturers may not publish them, but they do use them. And again for the record, I never implied that a piece of equipment can be fully defined by measurements alone - you've invented that. I just think that using "20+ years in the industry" as an reason not to provide someone with a fair answer is a bit poor. You are on a discussion forum after all, if you don't want to make the effort to explain your reasoning behind a put-down, why are you on here? I think it's tiresome that my viewpoint is being exaggerated and twisted to beat me up for saying that measuring changes is useful. This is another case where statements that I supposedly say are fabricated to make me look wrong. -- CardinalFang You're only young once, but you can be immature forever... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CardinalFang's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=962 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28080 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
