I reripped my HDCD again, and I have now both 16b and 24b WAV file formats.
The 16b WAV came from EAC. It is a pure WAV file. Audacity claims it is "WAV (Microsoft)" on import. The 24 bit file came from the chronoton plugin on WMP9. Audacity claims it is "WAVEX (Microsoft)" on import. Looking at the 16b & 24b file side by side in audacity I see no difference other than levels.
