Oh! I get what you're saying now. And yes, I believe I could use that 24-bit card to record this, although it would have to be the "line in", which goes through the sound card's ADC...which will introduce problems of its own. Getting the card downstairs won't be easy. I'd have to lug my desktop downstairs. I could install the card in a secondary PC I have, but that's currently running Ubuntu Linux. I've had a lot of problems with sound in Linux, even Ubuntu, plus I'm not familiar with any of the tools I'd have to use. The only spare Windows copy I have is Windows 98SE, which I don't think would handle 24-bit files well (I could be wrong about this). As Eric said, it's a lot of work. I'm interested but not really -that- interested...I'll see if anyone comes up with anything else first. If Eric is interested enough to drive 2 hours he can visit me in London - I'll let him play with my Marantz receiver all he likes. :-) Just give me a few days to clean up the house! -- Mark Lanctot "It's like, you know, a New Age religion, but with better treble response." - Jon Heal ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32967 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
