SPL Meter. You want to try every pair and invert one back and forth such that you get max SPL. When in phase it will be louder. Out of phase there will be cancelation. You do this while playing pink noise. Some test CD's and DVD's have this. This is tricky at different frequencies. At higher frequencies it is hard to detect/measure. You may only need to match midrange and woofers. This is all just a hunch. I'd also verify what you think you hear with an SPL meter. My system allows on the fly invert of everything because it can change how it sounds. But I'm not sure this can happen with just 2 speakers. It can happen with more than two though. You don't have multiple speakers of the same channel do you?
