WRT to the reclocking, I replaced the crystal with an XO3 clock from tentlabs. This clock is connected to another clock (XO-DAC)on the DAC. The tentlink connection keeps both clocks in sync.
The crackling appears after one tracks ends and before the next begins. Usually, it will happen also on FF/RW on these CDs. I rip to WMA lossless. This crackling is not subtle noise. It is often quite loud and last a second or two. While implementing the synchronous clocks I had problems getting the DAC to lock onto the signal for a time. The noise it made when there was no lock was very similiar I'm not exactly sure what I was asking for with the muting. I thought that perhaps older CDs implemeneted the gaps differently and that there was a way for squeezebox/slimserver to mimic how the gaps in CDs are implemented now. Along the lines of using fading for instance. -- Jitterbug ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jitterbug's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4955 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=37264 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
