That page in turn eventually leads us to http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main, which is an index of soundcards supported under Linux. I see that both the M-Audio AP2496 and the Echo Mia are supported, but apparently not the EMU 0404. (At least, it's not listed on the Creative Labs page, although the EMU 1212 and 1820 are).
