well, that kinda makes sense although it sounds like inflation. It's like a big economical depression where you need loads of bits to pay for a signal in 24ish currency. The advantage is that you can buy much smaller amounts of signal with the coins in 24bit land. Going back to numbers:
If the rule of thumb is applicable one would have 8 x 6db =48db attenuation before destroying anything in terms of resolution. I heard that a difference of 6db is considered to be perceived twice as loud as the original but I am not sure. Would have to look into my physiology again. Binary scale is logarythmic as well so that might be true. I never quite got the concept behind db. Maybe I didn't quite get the concept of logarythmic scales anyway. Will be looking at that stuff again. It is horrible to me if I use something that I don't really understand the least about. -- jaysung ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jaysung's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12375 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39611 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
