You don't.

If all the music is stored on some file server (which you can call a NAS 
if you like) you can just mount the file directories and use any tool 
like WinAmp or Windows Media player or anything else. You can try it and 
see if you like it.

Most people don't want to have a computer next to their stereo amp. For 
lots of reasons, you can't sit in a chair across the room and type 
commands, its hard to see the screen from across the room, etc.
Plus PCs are noisey.

So you put a small SqueezeBox on top of your stereo's amp, and control 
it across the room.

A SqueezeBox is just a Ethernet/WiFi reader with a DAC and a display.
