One of the things you really want to control by using bass traps and similar stuff is to bring down the reverberation time in the bass, if this is too high you can readily hear the bass waves shattering around the room... My humble opinion is that you can't control room reverberation time in the bass region with electronics, you can very much help out with flattening peaks, but you can't fix everything. If the walls are flexible they will store energy and release the energy back into the room, this may actually be quite audible. You may fix this by stiffening the walls. I can't see how to use DPS to correct this... How can electronics correct for sound waves that are released into the room when it's supposed to be silence? Don't get me wrong. The DSP products represent great and fantastic opportunities, and I'm really looking forward to trying out some of the new Lyngdorf products at home. I just don't believe they're the "silver bullet" that magically fix everything with the room.
