The way I see it, this isn't to correct anything, just expressing the way I see it.... 1. YES f the speakers are close to room boundaries, the main issue is not about frequency response, although this position will alter frequency response... What I believe is that if the path of the sound waves from the 1st reflections have to travel some 15 feet longer than the direct waves, suddenly the brain ignores the reflections and only hear the sound directly from the speakers! You get a tremendous better focus and imaging. I guess this corresponds with what I'm hearing when testing out speaker positions.... DRC cannot alter any of this because it's not a time machine =:-O 2. DRC may be a fantastic solution if you can utilize it to get a ruler flat direct response from the speakers above 200Hz. I have never heard of any solutions or systems that easily may do this, but I have read about audiophiles going into this task and obtaining significantly improved performance by optimizing their systems for ultra linear response from their speakers (ignoring reflections) Any good ideas on how to get there?
