There are a couple caveats: 1. If your speakers are near to room boundaries due to domestic reasons then the room reflections start to get perceived as part of the direct sound, hence measured response at the listening position starts to become more relevant. But otherwise I see it the same way as you. 2. Plus if you're system /isn't/ flat naturally (ignoring the room) then some EQ above 200Hz will likely help more than it hurts.
