I personally think vinyl sounds better - sod the noise floor! There's something more fluid and musical about a good analogue source.
However, I find my Transporter comes very close, plus I get a display to see what each track is called! I occasionally use a CD player to listen to new discs before I've got round to ripping them and I constantly look to the player to see what the name of the track is! I'm also really impressed with the new digital loop facility in fw40 - I can send the digital data through a Behringer DEQ2496 and still use the Transporter DAC. I haven't listened to a vinyl disc in several years and my turntable is gathering dust in the garage!
