I have "Straight from the Heart" by John Klemmer.

This was a trio album recorded directly from the microphones to the
cutting head. No circuits. Just wires.

Even with a moderate (US $250 cartridge (1982 cost)) it is the finest
viceral sound I have experienced. It never fails to raise hair.

One of the first CD's I bought (of four) was Terrapin Station. Compared
to even the vinyl of the time, it sounds like listening through a
mud-puddle.

Say what you will about vinyl vs CD, for the most part CD sound is
superior. It is only in the past couple of years that "digital
processing" has corrected many of the mastering defects of the early
CD's but with rare exception the only advantage of the "Valve/analog"
experience is that you can make toast on your amplifiers while you
listen.
