It depends what you're after. If you've got your heart secretly set on
doing a bit of retail therapy, then just look at new speakers. :) (But
not floorstanders IMO.)

If you're really wanting to understand the problem and do the optimal
thing to correct it, you need to get radical and move the whole system
into a bigger room. (Temporarily of course!) IF that nails it you know
that the current system including speakers is able to deliver the
detail and separation you need, but the room is holding it back. Again
IF that is the case you will need to look at DSP (EQ or DRC) to sort
out the room. (Even simply a funny in-room frequency response can by
itself seem to "hide" detail that is there. See the Inguz add-on for
slimserver/squeezecenter at inguzaudio.com.)

If a different room DOESN'T nail it then you can move on to
new-speaker-retail-therapy with fewer feelings of self-indulgence and
guilt. :)
