I see everyones point and agree to give it a second chance.  I don't
think the Transporter Crutchfield sent was refurbed or even opened. 
They had a great deal on the unit with a SBC for $1799 and free
shipping.  They are and always have been a very good customer service
company.  

My only point with what you said was I'm not comparing the Transporter
to the SB3.  I'm comparing it with the Revox.  I did a comparison with
the SB3, but my hopes were that the Transporter would come close in
quality, if not tone, to my Revox.  At least the first copy didn't. 
I'll try the second one tonight.

I'l be pleasantly surprised if I'm wrong.
