Yes, I would say it's a different animal. I'm surprised because the other unit played, albiet for only a few minutes at a time, but it did play. It was very flat and dry. No other way to describe it. The replacement is everything it's touted to be. Not as warm as my REVOX, but then I don't think anything is. Besides that's not a negative, it's just a difference. I think I will enjoy the Transporter 95% of my listening time. I will still sit down and listen to my REVOX now and again. It's like a pair of old comfortable shoes or hearing a long lost friends voice.
