The funny thing about the whole music server situation is that many of
the writers and editors for these publications use these music streaming
devices in their own systems and on occasion they even write about them
in the magazines. For example Stereophile has written quite a bit about
the Transporter and the Squeezebox but most of their coverage is still
about CD players or even worse SACD players. Sure SACD is very nice
format but there are very, very few new SACDs being released.

I don't even mind the coverage given to vinyl playback since I don't
really music streaming as replacing the LP because the LP is an analog
format but I do see music streaming as the main means of listening to
digital music in the future. And if one looks at how many college age
and younger people listen to music I would say that for that generation
the CD is already a dead format.

Sadly these magazines often bemoan the lack of young people interested
in high end audio but with the so much over priced equipment and such a
backward looking attitude what do they expect.
