On the OP's original question of Toslink vs. Coax: On the one hand, it depends on your DAC, as some are more immune to jitter, or more prone to ground loops, etc.
On the other hand, I've directly tested both Toslink (with glass optical cable) and Coax hooked up at the same time from a Squeezebox 3 (SB Classic) to the same DAC, switching back and forth. I've now done this comparison with at least four separate DACs over the years, and I've yet to hear a difference switching between Toslink and Coax. Of course the DACs sounded different from each other, but not Toslink vs. Coax connected to the same DAC. Maybe you'd hear a difference if you've got a very crappy DAC or a very old one that doesn't handle Toslink optical well. -- TiredLegs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TiredLegs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6201 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76113 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
