Before you do anything, you might experiment with room acoustics and speaker placement. You'd want to look at the relationship of your listening spot to the speakers. If there are any strong primary reflection points, those can affect imaging. You can experiment by temporarily hanging something like a quilt in various spots left and right to see how that changes things.
Similarly, room layout and speaker placement can also dramatically affect bass quality. In addition to trying the speakers in different spots, try different toe-ins. This can affect the amount of direct to reflected sound you hear. As you can see, there are a lot of potential variables to work with. Once you're optimized the present setup, then you can start thinking about other changes if you still wish. Why spend money if the solution is simply a matter of you spending some time experimenting? I also wouldn't get too caught up in the active/passive monitor issue. Built in amps are meaningless if you don't like the speaker. -- mlsstl ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mlsstl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80289 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
