search this forum for "digital quality touch transporter" (not in quotes) and you'll find lots of discussions. Here's a few to get you started. Folks have tested the digital and analog outs of the touch and are quite impressed. Most have agreed that the Touch is much better for both than duet or sb3. Some have thought the Touch only a hair below the transporter in quality. You'll have to decide if the extra money is worth it.
I have the transporter, a duet, a couple of touches, a couple of booms, and a SB3. I replaced my SB3 and duet with Touch units. I previously fed digital outs into a Benchmark DAC-I (a reasonably priced, well respected DAC). After getting the Transporter, I prefer the DAC in the Transporter over the Benchmark (and I like the benchmark!). And keep in mind that the Transporter can be used as a DAC without regard to the network media player functions it has. If you're planning on buying a DAC anyhow, you'll end up spending, say, $1,000 on a DAC and $300 on a TOUCH. Might as well go with the Transporter. If you already have a good DAC, maybe just get the Touch. I think the overwhelming comments on this forum is that the Touch has better analog and digital outs than any SB product other than the Transporter. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79218&highlight=digital+quality+touch+transporter http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80467&highlight=digital+quality+touch+transporter http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80128&highlight=digital+quality+touch+transporter http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79914&highlight=digital+quality+touch+transporter -- garym ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80517 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
