I didn't get a chance to compare two commercially released tracks rendered from the same master tape, one hi rez, the other red book style, but I did compare my home grown tracks. I've recorded myself in hi rez while playing, and then produced two tracks from the same source: one hi rez, one downsampled to red book. Then played them back on my high end audio and voila! huge difference in sound! To my ears, it's undeniable. I also have a library of hi rez music that I enjoy regularly. Even though I don't have a low rez counterparts of the same recordings to compare to, I can still hear how the SQ on these hi rez tracks is a huge improvement. There's just way more music present in there, more space, and way more spatial cues. Our ears pick up on these differences, and that's why I am in favor of the hi rez technology. I am also in favor of converting original vinyl sources into hi rez format (if done carefully and properly). I just don't like how all these greed-driven publishing houses are trying to rip us off on account of the novelty of the hi rez technology. -- magiccarpetride ------------------------------------------------------------------------ magiccarpetride's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37863 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82067 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
