I like the 24/96 "A Love Supreme" better and the 24/96 Kinks
"Preservation Act II" better that 16/44.1 versions. I have other
examples, but you claimed no one liked the 24/96 bit versions better.
So there are two.

In general, well done 24/96 has better dynamics than redbook
counterparts IMO. I don't think the difference is huge, but I can hear
it.

I also have 24/44.1 versions of the Beatles remasters - noticeably
better sounding than the standard remasters. There's more detail, and
the general SQ is more natural and musical sounding (more like good
analogue).

Again, not a huge difference, but an audible one. I'll give you a
couple of very specific examples: the song "Words of Love" from
"Beatles for Sale": More "jangle" in the electric guitar, and the hand
clapping that is an important part of the arrangement sounds more like
actual hands clapping. Small differences like these add to the
enjoyment of the listening.

The new Tom Petty album Mojo, has also been released in 24/48 bit.
Sounds better than the standard 16/44.1.

This may show that the 24 bit side of the equation is more important
than the 96 part.
