I did another test today - I have a superb Arcam Alpha 6 CD player and connected the SPDIF from the Arcam to the DPA Little Bit 3 DAC - and compared this to the SB as a source. I could tell no difference which is testament yet again that the SB receiver's digital output (I have the Duet not the Touch) is as good as it needs to be when connecting to a DAC.
You may remember I did the same test using a Quad 99 CDP-2 with the same results. I don't know how hi-end I need to go with transports before something quite obviously trounces the Receiver? By the way - I don't need the Arcam now judging how well the SB performs (I hope I am not making a mistake) so am considering selling it off. Top notch condition if anyone is interested? Otherwise I will take the conventional eBay route or sell in Hi-Fi World.
