Yes, there are a lot of paranoid (and some very incorrect!) postings on
this very forum! I'm not saying that power supplies, etc. can't affect
sound quality in a system (for lots of reasons), but if you search
these forums enough you'll also find evidence that there is little to
be gained by replacing the power supply of the TOUCH (as compared with
some of the older SB players). There's way too many "night and day
differences" reported from such modifications for my taste. Your
mileage my vary...

Also, I've used foobar2000 as a player for many years and very much
like its flexibility. I agree with a poster above, that when you move
to something like foobar2000, a netbook/DAC, etc., then there is little
or no reason to have SqueezeBoxServer or SqueezePlay in the mix. Not
needed. Just use Foobar2000 as your music library manager and player
feeding a DAC from the computer (netbook, etc.). I used to do just
this with a laptop running foobar and feeding a Benchmark DAC I. And I
could control foobar2000 remotely from an app on my iPhone. But the SB
experience is much better for me. The transporter works nicely, I can
control it from my laptop, my wife's laptop, my iphone, ipad, etc. I
can sync various players in other rooms together OR PLAY DIFFERENT
THINGS at each player. And this is all connected to a single
library/server.

AND IN MY OPINION, THE MOST IMPORTANT BENEFIT: I can put the
computer/server with music data in the back closet far away from any
listening room. With the foobar>Netbook>DAC>stereo system, you need
the netbook somewhere near the stereo which I assume is in your
listening space.
