No I meant exactly what I said... it can determine preferences BASED ON
THEIR SOUND. If you hear and prefer A rather than B then that's
great...buy A. If you can see what A and B are, often you will choose
one or the other based on various factors, one of which may or may not
be how they sound.

Your blue cable example is exactly what I am saying... if you can't
hear any difference blind, then (to you) there IS NO DIFFERENCE. If you
only hear a difference when you can see the blue cable then we are no
longer discussing audio and discussing your preference for "the blue
cable".
