Get a friend to switch between sources without your knowledge (wear a
sleep mask perhaps). Have the volume level the same on both sources and
don't have him tell you when he's switching sources if possible. Get
your helpful and patient friend/spouse to sometimes not switch sources
also. 
Unfortunately due to the laser reading of CD players this may be a
giveaway of the source. Of course this isn't a double blind test due to
the examiner knowing what you're listening to but it may help you know
for certain that you know what you are hearing is for real or just
placebo (not the band Placebo mind you, although that would be funny.
At least you'd know that's it's all a Placebo effect ;) )
