Of course, having more "rated watts" isn't bad in itself. It means you can go louder...as long as there is current to back it up into lower impedance where it occurs. Impedance is just one of several important areas where active speakers are at an advantage. First, drivers are easier to drive separately; second, the impedance profile for each driver will be simpler. (Worth mentioning since you're at an upgrade crossroad...)
