Hmm, not sure what I said that implied that. I'm not using an external
DAC, the Transporter's analogue outputs go into a Music Fidelity A5cr
pre.

I just checked and the things you mentioned where not active but I did
notice that "Volume control" was set at "Output level is fixed at
100%". I changed that to "Volume controls adjust outputs" and all is
well! :)

Maybe clipping in the server? Gremlins? Sunspots? PEBCAK? PICNIC?
