Yes sadly many recording are not good goolge "loudness war" many modern rock/pop records are very in your face hard brittle over compressed etc etc .
we have had long treads on this forum on the topic . one example Rush albums from the 70's sound infinetly betterthan the never ones 1. The recording ( 1a the actual recording and master ... 1z the delivery formats as long as it decent >320kBps ) 2. Listening room 3.
