The throwaway remark about car stereos interests me since I have often heard a recording that is new to me in the car, thought 'that sounds really great', bought it and been disappointed when playing it at home. My car radio is just bog standard, my home setup seems adequate as judged by my less than golden ears. Is there just something about the acoustics within a small enclosed space that makes some music sound good?
