Robert Harley a clown? Ok. And yes, asynchronous USB is better than S/PDIF and has become popular (for good reason). Why buy a first class outboard DAC if its clock is not able to slave the source component? The digital outputs on the Transporter, for example, will not allow the DAC to use its' master clock. DACs do have input receivers and buffers, etc, in order to reduce the jitter, but it is not as good as asynchronous USB.
