While it's true that reading TAS can at times be very similar to torture I do find it interesting to follow along as the latest audiophile trends are created out of thin air. For example, the current craze over asynchronous USB and super low jitter is a DIRECT result of all the nonsense written about these things in the audiophile press over the past year or so. As I've stated before the next bit of craziness will most likely be about DSD enabled DACs, even though these is almost no DSD content available. While it is true that there is DSD content is on every SACD, this content is not available to the user since all SACDs only output an analog signal. Plus no one has yet to show that DSD sounds any better than high resolution PCM, hell no one has yet to conclusively show that high resolution PCM sounds any better than CD quality PCM and by "conclusively show" I mean via a well conducted double blind test. I find TAS and Stereophile to be similar to most modern pop recordings - one or two good articles (songs) along with a whole bunch of truly worthless garbage.
