WARNING, WARNING, WARNING !!!! It seems that list subscriber Kevin Roden has the dreaded W32/Magistr virus on his PC
There have been a lot of people on the Aus-Soaring list who have contracted this nasty virus. It is very clever in that it scans your My Documents folder and extracts part of a real document as the message to send to its victims. The attached EXE file is the actual payload that causes it to replicate and keep sending more messages. Do not EVER open any EXE files sent by people (especially those you have nothing to do with) unless you have scanned them with an UP-TO-DATE virus scanner (with latest DAT files) You have been warned SIMON, can you perhaps disable attachments via the list server ? Do we as a list really need them ? Most if not all legitimate attachments could be hosted on a web site (for those who want to download) or handled by individual point-to-point e-mails.
