I have just re-checked the requirements for RPL, 25hrs fight time, 20 under instruction and 5 as pilot in command. Most glider pilots would met those requirement in their first year, so where all the fuss about "increased" costs comes from I don't know. The only additional cost I can see is the theory exam (costs around $100 for a PPL at a commercial training school) one hopes that clubs might be able to perform this themselves, especially if the national body got in there and campained for it. Other cost might be a license fee, don't know if this is true or what it might be. As I understand it there is no annual fee for a PPL at present, but if there is a fee one would hope that it would be of a similar magnitude to a drivers license. Again if the national body was more pro-active they might have been in a position to ask the question and demand an answer. cheers P. -- * You are subscribed to the aus-soaring mailing list. * To Unsubscribe: send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] * with "unsubscribe aus-soaring" in the body of the message * or with "help" in the body of the message for more information.
