Macca is obviously confused. The "stupid red card" was not a CASA
initiative. It came from the security folks. One day these same folks
will learn that any glider or ultralight pilot is just as capable of
flying a light aircraft as any PPL holder and then the same security
vetting will be applied to GFA and RAAus members wanting to learn ot
fly as is applied to prospective SPL holders.

Too late Mike. The requirement for the stupid red card is already an impost to RA-Aus, with thanks to those very departmental persons down at Dotars. Gliding folk might be a little luckier as not many 'gliding' clubs are located on airports that have RPT ops, hence no requirement for said card.

Coupled to this is the handover of the assessment and lodging criteria for this card to another completely unorganised government department in the attorney generals area, which have now delayed their scheduled July 1 launch date to September 3 as they are not ready. Prices for the stupid red card will go up as a result, although the claim of a 3 day turnaround for approvals should outweigh that (once it actually works).

More fun times ahead.
Chris
