The hole " Red card id " in my eyes (for my situation) is a load of crap.
For my self and many other military personnel who fly civi aircraft we have to go through the hole checking system tha ta normal PPL pilot has to go through now. For some who have higher than normal security classification for various reasons , this extra check is a waste of money as we are cleared higher than the asic process. I asked the asic peoply why this is so and they responded " Different departments" and was told to go through the process like every one else!. Which peeves me greatly as in my civi job i do some work on ships ...... and guess what i have to pay and apply for a Marine security id card also. So the government has spent umpteen thousands of dollars doing our checks, then i have to pay 200 bucks for a ASIC and 250 bucks For a MSIC, i would be easier if we had one department was handelling all the security checks and then issue the cards as needed. But thats the government red tape for you.
