The reason this is at present not a primary navigation tool (ie we had
the charts and ERSA in the luggage shelf behind) was shown up with -
- leaving the unit in full sun on the strip meant it wouldn't fire up
on takeoff (vide co-pilot holding the slab up to the side vent until it
cooled and resumed connection)
- at times the WAC and GPS track offset slightly from one another on
the screen
In our situation (2 seat side by side) the iPad is a tight fit; meaning
'raising the table during take off and landing'.
Possibly iPad mini will be easier.
On the positive side, having moving map, ERSA, frequency and coming
change over, met all on tap was a boon in lowering pilot workload,
notably over country where compass veers off because the geology below.
