I don't know whether I can keep up with the flow from the list, would
it be possible to copy the stuff to a usenet group and have an
accessible archive?
There is an archive for this list, here:
http://user-faq.openoffice.org/servlets/SummarizeList?listName=authors
Would that serve your needs?

Many thanks for this pointer. One of the benefits of UseNet is tha the
messages are threaded. If a particular topic is of no particular
interest, one can hit "K" and move on to the next. I have not used
gmane recently but I believe things are much the same.
I understand that gmane.org carries eight of the OOo newsgroups.
The UseNet process below is from a message I sent Daniel Carrera yesterday
An informal outline of the process is at:
http://web.presby.edu/~jtbell/usenet/newgroup/how-submit.faq
The more formal descripton is at:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/creating-newsgroups/part1/
Some naming recommendations are at:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/creating-newsgroups/naming/part1/
There are already about 20 groups for StarOffice and maybe 30 for
Microsoft Office.
My ISP has maybe 25,000 groups available and will add others on
request. They added comp.lang.python for me.
I'll enquire about the technical stuff to permit messages to be
distributed both to a mail list and a newgroup and to ensure that
postings to the newsgroup also go to the list.

Thanks again.

PS I am reading the Beta 2 Guide at the moment. Later, it would
be helpful if you could advise where discrepancies should be reported.
