My concern was about the process and the long term effect on the
community. If I had known that a member of the community that has acted
in a leading role was to act in such a unilateral fashion I would not
have joined the group and contributed the material that I had written.

It wasn't unilateral.

While I personally would have objected to a proposal to enact what you
have done, if the majority of the community thought the proposal a good
idea I would have accepted the community view.

My view is that providing printed books is a service to the
community. Many people prefer a printed book, and even with a
profit margin built in, buying one of the printed books is
generally cheaper than printing it oneself from the PDF, except
for someone who isn't paying for the paper and ink.

I hope others will comment at this point and say whether they
support the provision of printed copies.

I suggest that a discussion about printing and proceeds from selling
printed copies could be useful.

Of course. I stated in the announcement that the OOoAuthors
community will decide how to spend any profits. Of course, one
choice is to sell the printed copies at cost, and thus have no
profit to quibble about.

My personal view is that now that there is an official OOo wiki:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Page
OOoAuthors should move to this wiki and OOoAuthors be reunited with the
documentation team.

What is "reunited"? We've been working closely with Docs, and
sending them all the stuff we produce, for over a year now. The
OOoAuthors website is easier to use than the Issue Tracker system
for collaborative writing, so we use it. I confess I wasn't aware
of the wiki you mention, and wikis are often difficult for me to
use when I'm travelling because I cannot be online very much of
the time, so my preference is for other methods. When I get a
chance, I'll check it out.
